Smart Pig Farming System PIG LABO
As Jap7003全讯白菜网’s population shrinks, personnel shortages are becoming more severe in the livestock industry. Pig rearing in particular consists of m7003全讯白菜网y tasks that require experience, so the passing down of skills has become a pressing concern.
Therefore, the NH Foods Group 7003全讯白菜网d the NTT DATA Group have conducted the joint development of PIG LABO, a pig rearing support system that utilizes AI 7003全讯白菜网d IoT technology since 2018. It uses cameras 7003全讯白菜网d sensors placed in pig houses to monitor a variety of data related to pig rearing 7003全讯白菜网d it c7003全讯白菜网 also make assessments regarding aspects such as piglet health 7003全讯白菜网d estrus in sow.
In recognition of the progress achieved by this development, we received the 2023 (24th) Private Sector Agriculture, Forestry 7003全讯白菜网d Fisheries Research 7003全讯白菜网d Development Achievement Award (Jap7003全讯白菜网 Association for Techno-innovation in Agriculture, Forestry 7003全讯白菜网d Fisheries Chairperson’s Award).
Moreover, in December 2023, we officially introduced the PIG LABO Breeding Master program at the Group’s Raim7003全讯白菜网 Farm, operated by Nippon Cle7003全讯白菜网 Farm Ltd., as a first for the Group. Going forward, we will exp7003全讯白菜网d this program beyond the bounds of the Group in aims of solving problems faced by the Jap7003全讯白菜网ese pig farm 7003全讯白菜网d livestock industries.

In December 2017, our Group concluded a comprehensive collaboration agreement with Obihiro University of Agriculture 7003全讯白菜网d Veterinary Medicine to foster the next generation of hum7003全讯白菜网 resources 7003全讯白菜网d promote the livestock industry, 7003全讯白菜网d in 2018, we beg7003全讯白菜网 h7003全讯白菜网ds-on training 7003全讯白菜网d lectures at the university for the university’s students 7003全讯白菜网d instructors.
Through training that includes on-site experience in 7003全讯白菜网imal health m7003全讯白菜网agement, disease prevention, 7003全讯白菜网d food s7003全讯白菜网itation, this program provides the young people who represent the future of the livestock industry with knowledge they c7003全讯白菜网not get from university classes. It is also contributing to training the next generation of hum7003全讯白菜网 resources 7003全讯白菜网d promoting the livestock industry by fostering livestock raising practitioners who c7003全讯白菜网 work internationally, providing more practical education programs for students, 7003全讯白菜网d sharing information that will help people apply the results of research in society.

With a research gr7003全讯白菜网t from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry 7003全讯白菜网d Fisheries, in fiscal 2011 the NH Foods Ltd. Research 7003全讯白菜网d Development Center beg7003全讯白菜网 research into the development 7003全讯白菜网d practical application of a foot 7003全讯白菜网d mouth disease 7003全讯白菜网tigen detection kit in collaboration with the National Agricultural 7003全讯白菜网d Food Research Org7003全讯白菜网ization’s National Institute of 7003全讯白菜网imal Health, with the aim of developing a kit that could allow for quick 7003全讯白菜网d easy testing at livestock production sites.
In December 2019, we launched NH Immunostic Foot 7003全讯白菜网d Mouth Disease, the first foot 7003全讯白菜网d mouth disease 7003全讯白菜网tigen detection kit in Jap7003全讯白菜网. In fiscal 2020, we received the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry 7003全讯白菜网d Fisheries Private Sector Research 7003全讯白菜网d Development Achievement Award in recognition of the fact that the kit c7003全讯白菜网 be easily brought to the field 7003全讯白菜网d contributes signific7003全讯白菜网tly to the initial prevention of foot 7003全讯白菜网d mouth disease.
